The Dallas County Board of Supervisors approved the Iowa County Engineers Association Safe Streets and Roads for All grant at their regular meeting Tuesday.

The Board approved the Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant which will require the county to have a safety action plan which will be implemented with the help of the Iowa County Engineers Association at no cost to the county.

Also, the Board approved the County Road R30 paving project funding agreement that includes an award of $700,000 to be reimbursed for eligible project activities from the Highway Safety Improvement Program Federal-Aid SWAP Funds. Then the Board approved $25,900 in American Rescue Plan Act funding to digitize road establishment books among other roads documents.

The Board also approved the Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force 28E agreement and tabled a generator box vinyl wrap quote as it is still being designed. The wraps will help beautify the county and showcase the history of the county.

Finally, the Board continued their conversation about how to create more courtroom space as the county continues to grow as well as what to do with county staff locations if the courthouse is used solely for courtroom space. No action was taken on the discussion item but the Board agreed to have a finance workshop at the next meeting to discuss potential funding sources for the project.
