A piece of legislation passed the House that looks to improve severe weather communication efforts after the tornado on March 5th in central Iowa.

U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne says she helped introduce the “National Weather Service Communication Improvement Act,” which was led by Representative Randy Feenstra and supported by Representatives Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks. Axne says this piece of legislation will save lives.

“But what this does is helps the National Weather Service modernize its communication to prevent delays in the future by moving the chat system to the cloud so it’s more reliable.”

Axne expects the “National Weather Service Communication Improvement Act,” to pass the senate sometime in September.
