band-aid-fundraiser

There’s only a few days left to support a benefit with a Jefferson business for the Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

Home State Bank Marketing and Communication Director Jackie Cunningham tells Raccoon Valley Radio they are collecting band aids for children going through cancer treatments with the Band Aid Benefit for Blank’s Brave Battlers. Cunningham says the fundraiser started earlier this month when Tabatha Shahan and Shelby Wiggins organized it through one of Tabatha’s daughter’s friends who is also going through cancer treatments. Cunningham notes that Home State Bank was happy to help support their endeavor.

“We do try to kind of support as many of those community things as we can and it really, I think, is even more near and dear to us, especially when it’s an employee’s family member. Our bank is growing, but we all kind of feel like we’re still this small family and want to help in any way that we can. We’re just asking our community if they can pitch in and want to help, this is just a really great way to help someone else.”

Cunningham points out Shahan and Wiggins goal was 10,000 band aids and as of Thursday they were close to 6,000. The fundraiser has been extended through Monday, August 1st with donations accepted in the lobby of the bank until 4pm.
