This past July's Survivor Walk at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County

The main event for Greene County Relay for Life may be over, but there’s still time to donate funds in the fight against cancer.

The event took place this past Tuesday in downtown Jefferson where attendees honored cancer survivors and caregivers with the return of the “Survivor Walk” this time from the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County, as survivors made their way from the museum and took a lap around the gardens. Then everyone was treated to a free-will donation meal, followed by musical entertainment from the Town and Country Band.

Relay Event Leadership Team Chair Tori Riley says if you missed the Tuesday event, you can still donate in a variety of ways. She notes monetary donations can be dropped off at Peoples Bank in Jefferson, or you can sign up a team or a fundraiser online as well.

“We want to make it easy for people to participate in. The strives we’ve made in cancer early detection and survivor rates on cancer have just been very, very promising, very exciting. We’re just eager to have another opportunity again to finally to help fund all of that very important work that the American Cancer Society does.”

Riley adds a silent auction will be held in October with more information to be released on that later. She says donations will be accepted for the rest of the year. Click the link below to access the Greene County Relay for Life website.
