The city of Perry is still in the process of constructing improvements at the wastewater treatment facility but progress is being made.
City Administrator Sven Peterson says the project is essentially a complete reconstruction of the facility which is bringing it up to current state codes and other codes that could go into effect in the future.
“Really setting ourselves up well for the future not only for our effluent requirements but also additional capacity to be able to take on either new industry or continue to take on new residential homes. So, either way, great opportunity for the community it was right on time as far as when we needed it.”
Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the contractor, Woodruff Construction, has been good to work with and hopes to have the project done by next July.
“Looking to complete this hopefully by July of next year. Then they have some demolition work that should take them through the end next year of 2023. So, far it’s been a wonderful contractor, we really lucked out with the contractor that we got.”
The total cost for the wastewater treatment facilities improvement project came in at approximately $28 million which came from a sewer revenue loan.
