Dallas County Extension and Outreach has multiple classes coming up next week that people are encouraged to attend.

The classes will take place on August 4th with the first one being “Question. Persuade. Refer- Ag Professionals and Producers” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. which Regional Director Ann Torbert says is looking for people who primarily work with farmers in their daily jobs.

“The essence of the program is we’re trying to help those in the farm community who are under a great deal of stress, be that friendly voice that when they are having some troubles they might be thinking of suicide kinds of thoughts that you as someone who has gone through the training, you learn how to question, you learn how to persuade and finally you learn how to refer that neighbor to someone who can really provide the help that they need.”

Torbert tells Raccoon Valley Radio the next class is the Farmland Leasing and Management Workshop that will take place from 1-3 p.m. on the same day. Torbert says the program focuses on a variety of topics including carbon credits, sharing resources and improving communication between landowners and tenants. Torbert shares what people should expect if they attend both classes.

“If you are attending QPR training just know that you are going to have probably about a 20 minute break and go right into Farmland Leasing.”

Both of these classes will take place at the Dallas County Extension building on the Fairgrounds in Adel and can be registered for here and here.
