A Republican candidate made a stop at Raccoon Valley Radio station in Stuart Tuesday.
Zach Nunn is running to be the representative of Iowa’s Third Congressional District in Washington DC and will face incumbent Cindy Axne in the November elections. Nunn is an elected State Senator from Altoona and did multiple combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq as a US Air Force aviator. Nunn described the reason why he decided to enter the race to become an US Congressman.
“Unfortunately, we look around whether we’re talking to Republicans, moderates or even Democrats to say what’s happening in Washington, D.C., we’re getting 40 year high inflation. We’re getting 9.1% inflation growth. We’re seeing Iowa families pay an inflation tax of about $6,000 for an average Iowa family. That’s 10% of your take home is now going to just buying the cost of things you need every day. And unfortunately, we’re seeing a Washington DC that is ignorant to the needs of everyday Iowans.”
Nunn stated his top issues started with building a stronger economy for Iowans, defending the southern border, growing the agriculture industry and defending the right to life.
“More importantly, we’ve got a lot of domestic energy we can do right here in Iowa: ethanol, biodiesel, our solar or wind, our water, our nuclear plant. These are all of the above solutions. And we’ve called on Congress to take action to actually make America energy independent. It’s good for our economy.”
Nunn also served as the Iowa State Representative for the 30th district from 2015 to 2019.
