The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

The Board held a discussion about calling an election for a new county jail, as well as the financing for the project. Heidi Kuhl with Northland Securities said the cost estimate for a new county jail from the engineering firm ISG was about $12 million. The Board agreed to look at having a general obligation, non-essential purpose, bond referendum out for a public vote in November. The vote would need at least 60-percent to pass. The next step would be to confirm the total project cost amount with ISG at a future meeting.

The Board also approved Carter and Elizabeth Soenen as Mahanay Maestros, the county substance abuse prevention and treatment grant as presented, and the county treasurer’s quarterly and semi-annual reports as presented.
