State Auditor Rob Sand made his 100 Town Hall Tour in Guthrie Center Friday morning.

Sand discussed many things going on in the auditor’s office such as promoting his Public Innovations Efficiency program which is supposed to help counties find ways to save money and he pushed for the federal Clean Bus Program along with answering questions from a small group of people. Sand said he wants to keep the focus on ending gridlock between parties and staying aggressive in his work.

“We took the University of Iowa all the way to the Supreme Court and beat them when they tried to hide documentation from us. That sends a message to the rest of the state government. And that message is really clear. I had a guy from Albuquerque County say He’s been a state employee for 24 years. He’s never seen more middle managers and bureaucrats worried about what the state auditor’s office is going to think. That’s good. We want people who are supposed to be doing the public service, doing it in the public interest and following the rules.”
