Dallas Center – Grimes softball was able to put up their best finish in the state championship since 2015 this last week, as they were the state runner-up for 4A in the 2022 season. They end the year with a 35-7 record.
This program was able to find some tremendous results in the state tournament, defeating Indianola for a 4th time this season 9-3 in the first round, then defeating North Scott 9-3 in the semifinals, before bowing out in the state championship game against Winterset.
The numbers that were able to put up for this program is just remarkable, as they were able to put up a batting average of .378 and an on base percentage of .429. The team was one of the best in the state in extra base hits, hitting 89 doubles and 37 home runs as well, delivering 328 runs that was an average of 7.8 runs per game.
Some of the accomplishments that the team had this year included winning the Little Hawkeye Conference, accomplished a 15 game winning streak, and 21 streak games were they were able to put up five or more runs.
The program will be looking for similar success next season, as they were able to put up a tremendous year that should get the credit that it deserves.
