The West Central Valley Sports Complex will receive a new addition after a school support club raised enough money.
Superintendent Rusty Shockley says the West Central Valley Booster Club was able to raise enough money for new scoreboards that will be placed on the baseball and softball fields. He says this was a big need due to the age of the current scoreboards.
“Well, those are the original scoreboards from when they moved the complex from uptown to the high school when the athletic facility was built there. So I would say for quite some time, you know, that that was a short term fix and it just kind of worked out that it was time to do it and boosters was willing to help raise some money. And it all worked out in the end.
According to the booster club, they raised $11,500 for the scoreboards and split the rest of the cost after receiving a Dallas County Foundation grant for $10,000. The total cost of the scoreboards was $33,000 and they will be installed in time for next year’s seasons.
