It’s Class 2A State Tournament baseball later today and tonight from Merchants Park in Carroll. The 7 p.m. semifinal has top seed Van Meter taking on fourth seeded Dyersville Beckman. Van Meter won its quarterfinal on Tuesday night 5-3 over Kuemper Catholic on the Knights’ home field. VM is 37-0 this season with 52 straight wins dating back to last season and the Bulldogs are the team that eliminated Greene County in the second round of District 4 play.

Greene County head coach Matt Paulsen told Raccoon Valley Radio his observation is that Van Meter is a complete team with no obvious weaknesses. The hard-hitting Bulldogs were held to five hits in round one vs. Kuemper Catholic.
