(L-R): Congressman Feenstra, Senator Cotton, CEO Mike McLaughlin, and VP Sales and Marketing Don Ross
A US Senator has been making stops in Iowa stumping for other elected officials, but there has been speculation that he might make a run for president.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton recently made a visit to Scranton Manufacturing in Greene County earlier this month in support of Republican Congressman Randy Feenstra in his re-election bid for Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District seat. When asked about the possibility of Cotton running for the Republican nomination for president in the 2024 election, Cotton sidestepped that question.
“You know I had a drill sergeant that used to tell us, ‘Keep your eye on the 25 meter target.’ And right now the 25 meter target is the 2022 election. I’ll focus on that 25 meter target and I’ll think about future elections in the future.”
Cotton is no stranger to Iowa, as he has been back in the state several times.
“I was here just two years ago helping Randy (Feenstra) in his first election, and (Congresswomen) Ashley Hinson, and Marinette Miller-Meeks, as well as (Senator) Joni Ernst. I mean that’s four elections right there that helped us (the Republican Party) maintain the very narrow majorities that the Democrats have.”
Greene County is no longer in the Fourth Congressional District. Due to redistricting, the county was moved into the Third Congressional District where Democrat incumbent Cindy Axne is facing Republican challenger Zach Nunn.
