Dallas Center – Grimes Mustangs softball will be seeing a conference foe in their first round of the 4A state tournament on Monday afternoon in Fort Dodge, with the Mustangs to take on the Indians of Indianola in the first round of 4A action. DCG is the three seed coming into the matchup, with Indianola a six seed. DCG comes in with a 33-6 record and Indianola at 27-12.

The Mustangs were able to cruise against Bishop Heelan in their regional championship winning 10-1, while Indianola was able to win over Glenwood 12-2.

Both of these Little Hawkeye Conference foes faced off three times during the regular season, with DCG prevailing in all three of their matchups.

Both of these clubs have very good offenses, with DCG second in 4A in runs scored with 309, and Indianola 6th with 272. Mustang softball is one of the best in the state in multiple statistical hitting categories, as they are second in batting average at .375, tied for second in home runs at 34, 2nd hits, and first in team doubles. They have also struck out less as a team than any other in the entire state.

The game will take place at Iowa Central Field, as DCG will be on the hunt for a state title, which three wins gives them first first one since the three peat 2013-2015.
