We look today at some of the numbers on offense for the recently completed Greene County High School baseball season. Coach Matt Paulsen’s Rams went 8-15 and had one of its highest team batting averages in recent seasons at .275. Senior Bryce Stalder, a Grand View University (Des Moines) baseball recruit, led the way batting .476. Junior Brayden Roberts was next at .344 with senior Justin Stream hitting .339 and senior Max Riley batting .321. Others batted between .250 and .275, with others not making it to the .200 mark.

Greene County lacked power in its lineup with just two home runs in 23 games. Roberts and Stream accounted for the round-trippers. The team did have nine triples with four from Stalder, three by sophomore Gabe Ebersole, and one apiece from Roberts and junior Dakota Mobley. The team hit 24 doubles with seven from Stream, six by Stalder, four for Roberts, two each by Ebersole and senior Kole Teeples, and one from freshmen Crew Conner and Noah Hinote.

Leading the team in runs batted in was Stream with 13. Roberts with 11 and Stalder at 10 were the others to reach RBI double figures.

Greene County ended the season with six seniors on the team and five were in the starting lineup for the final game, a 7-0 district semifinal loss to Van Meter, who will be attempting to win its fourth straight Class 2A State title this week.
