The West Central Valley Wildcats softball team ended their season Monday night, with a 1-5 loss in Mt. Ayr. Sophomore Zoey Dickson led the team in hits, with 1 hit, and .333 batting average. Incoming freshman Lillian Gilbert led the team in RBI’s with 1 hit, a .333 batting average, and 1 RBI. On the pitching side, junior Marissa Hagen led the team in earned run average and strikeouts, with an ERA of 3.5, 6 innings pitched, and 4 strikeouts.

While the Wildcats are done for the year, they showed that they won’t be a team to be taken lightly next year. They finished with a 28-9 season, the best season in school history, setting the school record for wins in a season. Marissa Hagen set the school record for wins by a pitcher in a season, having pitched 27 of the 28 wins, and Zoey Dickson set the school record for RBI’s in a season, with 41.

On top of all that, the team will return in full, as there were no seniors on the roster this year.
