The Adel City Council approved a lease agreement amendment between the city and RCM Campground Investments for seasonal overnight camping at Island Park Campground at their regular meeting Tuesday.
The Council approved the amendment which updates the monthly lease rate which comes after a review of latest utilities and excludes garbage charges. Also, the amendment clarifies parking based off a discussion that occurred earlier this year and the Council also approved a lease agreement amendment between the city and the ADM Soccer club which also clarifies public parking in the area.
Then the Council discussed the New Hope Church request to amend the east annex sanitary sewer connection fee district ordinance for its new addition and agreed they were not in favor of granting relief by amending the ordinance and the resolution did not pass. Also, the Council took no action on the addition of street trees as the city is in the process of potentially changing the ordinance that allows such trees and agreed on a moratorium for the next 120 days on tree planting in public right of ways.
Finally, the Council did not approve the first reading of an ordinance amending the code of ordinances relating to the requirements for fencing around swimming pools and decided they should continue to look at the ordinance and how to improve the language. The Council also approved an amendment to the engineering services agreement between the city and McClure Engineering for the phase one water systems improvement project.
Also, the Council recognized Adel Police Department Officer Bryce Deeth and his promotion to sergeant and administered the oath of office to new Officer Joel Gummert.
