The wait is finally over and the Dallas County Fair officially begins tomorrow with plenty of fun activities to enjoy.

The fair begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 4-H/FFA Horse Show at the South Arena and the Dallas County Farm Bureau 4-H breakfast from 8-10 a.m. in the Entertainment Plaza. Then later on in the day the carnival will open at 4 p.m. near the gazebo followed by the fair queen coronation at 5 p.m. at Center Stage and the 4-H Style Show will begin at 6 p.m. in the Extension Office Meeting Room.

Other activities throughout the day will include the Dallas County Little Critter Corner opening in the Small Animal Building, kids celebrations near Center Stage and Farm Bureau stories at Center Stage among other things. There is also a new Dallas County Extension Youth Coordinator in Elizabeth Emley who says she is excited about being in her position ahead of the fair.

“Moving into this position has been pretty exciting. I was very fortunate to get hired while I was still in college. That was a pretty big chance that Dallas County took on me but they felt confident in my ability to do good work for the community and the youth of Dallas County. I’ve been trying to really get to know the community and the way things are typically done here so that I can help try and keep those traditions alive and try and help to understand the youth in the community better. ”

Also Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the fair on Wednesday.
