The US Supreme Court has been making a lot of headlines from its recent decisions on groundbreaking cases.

The highest court in the country overturned Roe v Wade and allow abortions to be handled by the states, to allowing prayer in public schools and allowing firearms to be carried outside of your home. Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District Representative Randy Feenstra commented to Raccoon Valley Radio following a visit to Scranton Manufacturing last week about the recent rulings from the Supreme Court.

“My feeling, it doesn’t matter who is on the Supreme Court, as long as they follow the (US) Constitution and that’s all I ask from my Supreme Court justices. The way I see it is they’re looking at the Constitution and they’re following it and what it says, and that’s their rulings. I’m very proud of what they’re doing.”

Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton joined Feenstra on the visit and argued that the Supreme Court’s majority aren’t conservative justices, but as a constitutional majority. He shared his thoughts on the court’s makeup.

“In many cases, what you’ve seen, the Supreme Court saying, ‘This is not a proper issue for (a) judicial decision.’ That we shouldn’t have nine unelected lawyers in Washington (DC) making decisions. The people and their elected representatives should be making decisions.”

Right before the Supreme Court adjourned for their calendar year, Justice Stephen Breyer retired and the first black woman Ketanji Brown Jackson was sworn in to replace him, after she was confirmed by the Senate.
