A trip to the state tournament in Fort Dodge is on the line tonight for Dallas Center – Grimes softball, as they will be taking on Bishop Heelan in Dallas Center for Class 4A Region one championship action. DCG is 32-6 on the season while Bishop Heelan is 30-11 on the year.
Both of these programs were able to take care of business in their games on Saturday night, with DCG defeating Denison-Schleswig 12-0, and Bishop Heelan defeating Spencer 8-4.
Neither one of these teams have played each other since 2013, with DCG leading the series 2-1 in the last fifteen years. Both of these clubs have good pitchers but have high scoring offenses, with the Crusaders averaging 8.9 runs per game and Mustang softball putting up 7.9 per game. Extra base hits have been key to both teams success, with 24 for the visiting club and 32 for DCG.
First pitch will be at 7 pm tonight, as the Mustangs will be looking to put up a great performance and hopefully a victory as well.
