The Stuart Public Library is almost halfway through their summer reading program and the participation has exceeded expectations.
Library Director Lisa Sherman explains that the attendance at their first three programs has shown that the community wants to be involved with the library.
“For example, last Thursday we had Ms. Chili Pepper. She was a trick pony, and she was at the park at Lawbaugh Park, the city park. And we had, we estimate, about 168 people attending. So that is just outrageous fun and we are thrilled with that. The day before we had Darren Crow, he brought in a bunch of people telling fantastic stories. I posted some of it on the Stuart Library Facebook page as well.”
Sherman says the kids have also kept track of their reading minutes or the number of books they have read. The next summer reading program will be on July 12th with the Guthrie County Conservation at Lawbaugh Park and then there will be three programs left.
