With the regular season behind them, players and coaches on the Greene County High School softball team are preparing for the postseason, which is just two days away. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams open Class 3A Region 2 play at Harcourt vs. Southeast Valley on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winner goes to Saydel High School in Des Moines to meet either number 7 Saydel or Pocahontas Area on July 9 at 7 p.m.

The Rams went 12-12 in the regular season after starting 1-6. The 11-6 finish to the season saw an improved team batting average, fewer defensive lapses, and well over one strikeout per inning from pitcher Emma Hoyle.

Greene County defeated SEV 7-5 in Jefferson last week in non-conference play, but the Jaguars did not throw either of its top two pitchers. SEV has a 14-10 record.

Wednesday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
