After the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended COVID-19 vaccines for those ages six months to five years and approval was given by the Food and Drug Administration, people may have questions.

Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says parents should talk to their child’s primary doctor.

“There are some questions that lots of parents have and they are best answered by the doctor that knows that child. Who’s given previous immunizations to that child and who’s watched that child through wellness and through illness.”

Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio this development highlights the importance of families having a primary place to take their children.

“For those families who don’t really have a regular doctor, they go to the nearest walk-in clinic all the time, this is an example of why it’s really important to have a primary physician. One that knows you, that knows how you react to things and has all of your records right there.”
