The West Central Valley baseball and softball teams both took on the Earlham Cardinals in some doubleheader action Thursday night. The baseball team played a close first game, only going down 6-8, before having a rough second game, with the Cardinals winning 11-1.
The softball team split their games against Earlham. In the first game of the night, the Wildcats grabbed the lead shortly before the last inning, before the Cardinals nabbed a few more runs to win 10-8. The Wildcats rallied in the second game though, leading the Cardinals the entire time, and coming away with a 16-4 victory.
The baseball team returns to action today as they take on the Woodward-Granger Hawks in the first round of the postseason. The winner of the game will advance to the second round on Tuesday, and face off against the AC/GC Chargers. The softball team takes a bye in the first round, and will return to action Tuesday against the winner of the game between Central Decatur, and Nodaway Valley.
