It’s Class 2A District 4 baseball later today for Greene County and Panorama from West Central Valley High School east of Stuart. It’s a 5 p.m. first pitch and the play-by-play can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The teams have similar records with Coach Matt Paulsen’s Rams at 7-14 and the Panthers with a 7-16 mark. They’ve not met this season and the winner will take on top ranked and three-time defending State Champion Van Meter in round two on Tuesday, July 5 in Van Meter at 7 p.m.
The Panthers have a .270 team batting average while the Rams are at .283, but Panorama scores more runs on average than Greene County. Defensively, the Rams are just under two errors per game while the Panthers are just over that mark, but when it comes to unearned runs, Panorama has allowed 66 to 43 unearned runs given up by Greene County. Neither hits for much power with three Panorama homers and one by the Rams. The Panthers have collected 34 doubles and four triples to nine triples and 23 doubles for Greene County.
