There will be some musical entertainment this weekend in Jefferson.
The Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County is hosting two bands for its next Summer Concert Series on Saturday. Board member Jean Van Gilder says from 5-7pm will be a local musician Chris Dorr who will perform a variety of music on guitarist and then it will be the Blue Stem duo Cindi and Shannon Bryan from Jamaica, along with Jim Guillman of Jefferson and Jim McDonald of Des Moines, and they cover songs from the Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and Linda Ronstadt.
Van Gilder notes there will also be two food trucks available with Cook’s Snack Shack and Deardorff Highland Cattle that will start serving at 5pm. She talks about why they wanted to have two bands perform during the 4th of July weekend.
“We originally thought with the food trucks starting at 5(pm) we needed something to fill in (for a concert). So Chris Dorr is new to our community, he’s married to my pastor, he is going to perform for us, and I think he’s very talented. We’ve seen him at church so the whole community will get to see him. And then Jim Guillman is a friend of mine as well. So they are both going to be performing Saturday night.”
Van Gilder says the concerts are free and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs as Chestnut Street will be blocked off by the Gardens for anyone wanting to watch the concerts. She adds the next Summer Concert Series will be in August.
