The West Central Valley School Board recently approved the purchase of a new special education bus.
Superintendent Rusty Shockley says they purchased a 2023 Collins Lift Bus for roughly $73,500 using money from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund. Shockley explains why they needed a new special education bus.
“We transport a significant number of special ed students. The one that we’re purchasing will replace an older bus that’s got a couple of hundred thousand miles on it. So, it’s just to replace one that’s in the fleet.”
Shockley adds this will be a lift bus so they will have the capability to transport a student in a wheelchair.
