The Panorama Panthers Softball and Baseball teams will be taking on an inter-county rival when they head to Guthrie Center to take on the AC/GC Chargers today.
The Panthers and Chargers softball and baseball teams were originally supposed to square off back on June 6th but due to weather those games were called off. The Panthers softball and baseball teams are coming off of a double header against the Earlham Cardinals last week where the Panthers baseball team came away with a 1-1 record while Panthers softball left the double header 0-2 against the Cardinals.
The Panthers baseball team will look to lean on quality pitching performances that have become the norm this season as Austin Block and Brice Taylor both sport an ERA under three and Braedon Draper has an ERA just above five while all three pitchers have 20 or more strikeouts on the year. As a team the Panthers have an ERA of 5.52. With 42 RBI’s on the year the Panthers baseball team will also continue to focus on quality at bats tonight as well. The Panthers have historically gotten the better of the Chargers over the years with an 18-6 all-time mark dating back to 2008 and the Chargers baseball team hasn’t beaten the Panthers since 2017.
Panthers softball will be getting their first look at Chargers softball this year and the Panthers will look to get quality pitching from both Maggie McCarty and Arilyan Steenblock who combined have 28 of the teams 30 strikeouts on the year. The Panthers have also generated plenty of quality at bats throughout the year contributing to the team’s eight home runs and team batting average of .266 with 66 RBIs on the year. Historically, Panthers softball is 23-8 all-time against the Chargers dating back to 2007.
The Panthers and Chargers baseball and softball teams will renew their inter-county rivalry today when the teams square off for the first time this season as the Panthers will be traveling to Guthrie Center for their matchup today.
