The last week of the Greene County High School softball and baseball regular seasons is almost here. Ram baseball and softball are both home on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, then it’s on to the postseason.
The Perry teams visit Jefferson on Monday with a varsity baseball doubleheader at Allensworth Field starting at 5 p.m. Game two of that twin bill can be heard on KDLS 1310 AM/99.7 FM. Softball is varsity first at 5:30 p.m. on KG98 with JV to follow from the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway.
Southeast Valley sends its softball and baseball teams to Jefferson on Tuesday for non-conference play, and the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference schedule wraps up when Nevada plays softball and baseball in Jefferson on Wednesday. KG98 will have the Rams and SEV in softball on the air around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, with baseball around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday vs. the Cubs.
Ram baseball starts the Class 2A postseason on Saturday, July 2 at 5 p.m. vs. Panorama at West Central Valley High School east of Stuart. That game will also be broadcast on KG98 and all broadcasts are streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Ram softball starts the postseason in 3A on July 6 with pairings expected to be announced soon.
Greene County softball plays today in the South Hamilton Tournament. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams play West Marshall at 10:30 a.m., then Algona at 12 p.m., both in Stanhope at the City Park. A third game will be played in either Stanhope or Jewell depending on the results of the first two games.
