As residents of Perry collect yard waste throughout the summer, a city official wants to remind them of where they can get rid of those items themselves.

The yard waste disposal site near Raccoon River Pet Rescue in Perry allows residents to drop off a variety of items including leaves, grass clippings and garden waste among other things. City Administrator Sven Peterson talks about the disposal site, which is open everyday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“We did have a really great pilot session last fall and people were really respectful of it. Only had a couple of issues that we were able to resolve. Working with public works we were able to figure out that it is something that we could keep open and keep going. I think it’s a great opportunity for the community to be able to get rid of stuff right then and offer that service.”
