Two of Jefferson’s iconic musicians have been selected to kick off a new concert series next week in Okoboji.
2B Unplugged with guitarist David Williamson of The Bushmen and percussionist Hank Muzney will perform as the first musical act for the Songwriter Showcase series with the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association. Williamson tells Raccoon Valley Radio they were contacted by the director of the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association and were told they were needed to perform in this new concert series in Okoboji. He talks about how long it took him to convert all of the songs they performed as The Bushmen to the acoustic sounding 2B Unplugged.
“Oh we’re very grateful, certainly are very grateful that they are acknowledging the validity of these songs, the messages in these songs.”
Williamson describes what it’s like to receive an honor from the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association to be the first band to kick off the new concert series.
“It took me five weeks to get The Bushmen setlist transposed and it also dropped it down a full note. So this is a deeper, richer, really mellow sound. And so that garage rock vocalist is now into this acoustic, softer groove. Some people would call it easy listening, but it’s clearly an unplugged, softer rock sound.”
2B Unplugged will perform at the Majestic Pavilion in Arnolds Park on Monday, June 27th at 7:30pm. Click the link below to purchase $10 tickets.
