The next free yard waste pickup for Jefferson residents is next week.
Yard waste will be picked up in Jefferson from June 20-22 on your regular garbage day. City Administrator Mike Palmer reminds residents to place any yard waste into biodegradable bags and those must have a yard waste sticker on them to be picked up. He also suggests all tree branches must have the cut ends facing the street at curbside. Palmer explains how to handle sticks someone might have.
“Always remind people, if you have a lot of little sticks and twigs, either put them in a bag and try to avoid putting them in what we call like a beehive where they are just kind of a pile that it’s hard to grab, we can’t get them all. When they (the city crews) come by they try to get by fast and get everything ground up.”
Palmer advises that residents can also use the yard waste dump site at Daubendiek Park anytime of the year.
