Another building has been revitalized in Jefferson and it offers rental housing to boot.
The Wilson Avenue Suites, located at 215 South Wilson Avenue, was purchased by Court Street LLC and Western Iowa Living in October of 2020. Developer Adam Schweers says it was a complete gut job, where the entire building was stripped to its studs. The just over $1 million project took 17 months to complete and Schweers shares his thoughts on how the final product looks from when it was known as the White Apartments.
“I will say that this project has turned out every bit as good if not better than we had anticipated. There was a lot of challenges to it, but we’re really excited about how it turned out. I think it’s really added a great look to the downtown, it’s giving us something modern. I think it’ll be very appealing to people and the location is amazing as well.”
There is a one three bedroom unit for $1,200 monthly rent, eight two bedroom apartments for $950 and three one bedroom units for $750 per month. The Carroll native describes his excitement of expanding out to Jefferson to aid in the housing shortage.
“And I know that the housing need is real. We really think it’s regionally. Whether it’s Carroll, whether it’s Jefferson, whether it’s Denison, whether it’s any of the communities that are in this 8-10 county region, we all need housing. Our employers need it, our employees are willing to drive a little bit for the right job. And so wherever we can plant a good project like this, we’re going to be looking for that opportunity.”
