The West Central Valley softball team has continued a dominant run on the season, winning the last two games they’ve played, and setting a new school record on wins in a season. With their win against the Ogden Bulldogs on Tuesday, the Wildcats tied the school record for wins in a season at 16 wins. The Bulldogs got the jump on the Wildcats, as they scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning, but the team made their comeback quickly, scoring 1 run in the 3rd, 2 runs in the 4th, 1 run in the 5th, and 2 runs in the 6th to finish out the game with a 6-3 victory.

Last night the girls traveled to Greenfield and took on the Nodaway Valley Wolverines, and hit the ground running. The Wildcats scored 1 run in the 1st inning, and 2 runs in the 2nd to take a 3-0 lead going into the 3rd. The Wolverines tied things up in the 3rd inning however, before the Wildcats scored another 3 runs in the 5th inning, and 1 run in the 6th, before the Wolverines scored 1 run in each of the last two innings, to give the Wildcats a 7-5 victory.

With that win, the West Central Valley softball team set a new school record for wins in a season, with 17 wins so far. The previous record was set by the 2007-2008 team. Junior Marissa Hagen also broke the record for most season wins by a pitcher against the Bulldogs, and continued the streak to 17 last night against the Wolverines.

Last night’s game was the last of the week for the softball team, but look for scores from the baseball team as they play in to Saturday.
