As the spring season continues, the Guthrie County Public Health Department has noticed a slight increase in COVID-19 cases.
Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber says that they have seen a total of 30 positive cases in the last 14 days. He explains that he is not surprised by the rise in cases.
“(It’s) probably due to just the fact that everyone is traveling again, everyone is meeting again and especially the older folks their getting out there so we do kind of expect to see that.”
Arber adds that the rise in positive cases are not severe and are not as high as what they saw this past January or even in the past two years.
“As far as severity goes, we are not seeing a lot of people spending a lot of time in the hospital and if they are hospitalized, I think the vaccine is doing what it needs to do and natural infections.”
Arber reassures that people’s immune systems are handling the virus a lot better.
