Mother Nature tried to get in the way of more games on Wednesday but Panorama Panthers Baseball and Softball prevailed and were able to hold their games with a little manipulation of the start times of the games.
The Panthers Baseball team was slated to take on Martensdale-St. Mary’s beginning in the morning Wednesday at Principal Park in Des Moines but due to the weather their game was bumped to an 8 o’clock start time to ensure the game could be played.
The Panthers boys were taking on a solid Blue Devils baseball team in what turned out to be a low scoring and close game through seven innings. The game saw no runs being scored until the second inning when the Blue Devils were able to get one run across the plate but the Panthers answered with a run of their own in the fourth inning to tie it. The score would remain 1-1 until the top of the sixth inning where the Blue Devils were able to plate three runs to make the score 4-1 which is where it stayed to close out the game.
The Panthers Softball also adjusted their first pitch time to ensure Panther fans had the chance to catch both games and they were taking on an undefeated Blue Devils Softball team. The game didn’t go in the favor of the Panthers as they fell by a score of 17-0 dropping their overall record to 1-9 on the year. The Panthers Softball team will get to enjoy a long weekend as they aren’t slated to take the field again until Monday when they take on the West Central Valley Wildcats in Stuart.
Both the Panthers Softball and Baseball teams are continuing on throughout their regular season matchups as they are getting prepared to take part in postseason play as it is coming up quickly on the calendar here in 2022.
