Greene County played regular season tournament softball and baseball on Saturday, and both varsity teams will be back in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference on Monday.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s softball team won for the third time this season when they out scored Pleasantville 12-7 at the Bondurant-Farrar Tournament. The Rams led 10-0 after batting in the first and second innings, then withstood a rally by Pleasantville.
Coach Matt Paulsen’s baseball Rams lost twice in as many games at the Boone Tournament to fall to 3-6 on the season. ADM was a 12-6 winner vs. Greene County, followed by Boone’s 11-10 victory over the Rams. Greene County trailed the Toreadors 6-0 before tying the contest at 9-9. Boone regained the lead at 11-9 before the Rams scored a run in the final inning, but could not tie it up or take the lead.
The Greene County teams play at Perry on Monday. Softball is on KG98 with the varsity game at 5:30 p.m. followed by JV. Baseball is on KDLS 1310 AM and 99.7 FM with JV at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game on the air at 7:30 p.m. Both varsity contests will be streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
