Sophomore pitcher Owen Siegert was dominant on Friday night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson as West Marshall (State Center) blanked Greene County 10-0 in six innings by the 10-run rule in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball. Siegert struck out the Rams 14 times, walked three batters and allowed just one hit in 5-2/3 innings on the mound. The lone hit for Greene County was a double by senior Bryce Stalder.
Greene County pitchers had some control issues by hitting six batters with pitches and walked seven others. WM scored two runs in the first and one in the second. After scoreless third and fourth innings, the Trojans put three more on the board in the fifth and four in the sixth. WM collected eight hits and no errors as they improved to 3-0 in the conference and 9-4 overall. The Rams fell to 3-4 and 2-2.
Coach Matt Paulsen’s team plays two games in Boone today starting with ADM at DMACC’s field, then meeting Boone at Memorial Park.
