A new website was recently launched as a way for one county to generate more interest to move to the community.

Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community, along with coordinator Abby McConnell have developed a website called “Experience Jefferson” with the overall goal of attracting new people to live and/or start a business in Jefferson and Greene County. McConnell says the website was made possible by a Rural Return Grant that Jefferson Matters received $20,000 from to promote people moving to rural communities.

McConnell worked with social media consultant Chatterkick and found out from a research study that was done in 2019 that the community was missing a digital platform to engage those who live outside of the community to get them to want to move to Greene County. Jefferson Matters Economic Vitality Team Chair Peg Raney describes the key parts that the website highlights.

“Here in these last few years in Jefferson and Greene County that are really attracting people, like all the school facility updates, and the healthcare options, and housing is being addressed, and our beautiful downtown, we have lots of outdoor recreation opportunities. So now this is all put together in one place to really market our community.”

Raney explains how the general public can do their part to promote Greene County through the #experienceJefferson.

“When you’re taking pictures or videos of your family and friends gathering together (in Greene County) put that #experiencejefferson and then we’ll use pictures in this website and some of the social media.”

Raney and McConnell are both pleased that they achieved their goal of launching the new website before the Bell Tower Festival, which they have scheduled an activity during that event to draw even more interest. Click the link below to access the website.
