If you enjoy looking at a variety of different vehicles, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Special Olympics All-Wheel Show is taking place this Saturday in Adel.
The All-Wheel Show raises money for the Special Olympics of Iowa and Sheriff Chad Leonard says the event will feature cars along the square in Adel for people to come enjoy and awards will be given out with 100-percent of the proceeds going to support Special Olympic athletes.
“Special Olympics has been near and dear to all law enforcement in the State of Iowa, actually across the country. It’s just been a great partnership and we do a lot of events to help raise money for Special Olympic athletes, and this is just the one major event that we do every year is the car show.”
Leonard tells Raccoon Valley Radio people can expect to see old cars as well as some new ones on display as well as food being served by the Adel Fire Department. Leonard describes the types of awards for those that participate.
“The top 20 cars will get awards and then certain awards will be given out as well like ‘Best of Show’ and Special Olympic Choice. Special Olympic Choice is the one that’s pretty fun, the athletes go out and pick out their favorite vehicle and at the end of the day the Special Olympic athletes are the ones that are handing out the trophies and the plaques for all the cars.”
The car show will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with registration and awards will be given out at 2:30 p.m. Also, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Little Big Red Radio will be on location from 10 a.m to noon playing music and providing public address announcements.
