The Greene County Rams host Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball rival Roland-Story (Story City) tonight in makeup action after last week’s rainout. It’s JV/varsity action at the City diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson with the varsity contest to be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage starting shortly after 7 p.m. and first pitch set for 7:30 p.m. Tonight’s game is the first at home this season for Greene County.

Both teams are below the .500 mark in the early going with the Rams at 1-5 and Norsemen 1-3. Greene County has struggled at the plate with a .156 team batting average through the first five games and averaged just 2.4 runs per game in the first week of the season.

The Rams lost in Monroe last night to PCM by an 11-0 score in six innings by the 10-run rule. Six errors and a lack of hitting were the main culprits.
