Greene County baseball has tonight off after playing the last two nights. The Rams were in Prairie City on Wednesday night for a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference contest with PCM. Coach Matt Paulsen’s team won by a final of 14-3 in five innings by the 10-run rule and now stands at 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Mustangs fell to 2-4, 2-2.
Bryce Stalder started on the mound for the Rams and threw all five innings, picking up the win. He allowed just one earned run on six hits with seven strikeouts and he hit one batter with a pitch while walking only one.
The bats were working for Greene County with 14 hits. Leadoff man Max Riley and three singles and drove in three runs. Justin Stream, Blake Hamann, and Brayden Roberts each doubled, singled, and had one RBI, and Stalder had a base hit and two runs batted in. Joe Carey had two singles and one RBI, and both Dakota Mobley and Gabe Ebersole had base hits and one RBI apiece.
Roberts caught two more would-be base stealers from his catcher’s position, give him three in the last three games.
Coach Paulsen told Raccoon Valley Radio “It was an excellent win for our team, and everyone in the lineup contributed.” Up next is a Friday home date at Allensworth Field with West Marshall (State Center).
