The Panorama Panthers Softball and Baseball teams took on the Madrid Tigers Tuesday night in another round of regular season action on the young season.
The Panthers softball and baseball teams headed out onto the ball diamond again Tuesday looking to pick up another digit in the win column against their conference opponent in the Madrid Tigers.
The Panthers softball team came into Tuesday’s game looking to pick up their first win of the season as they came into Tuesday’s matchup with an overall record of 0-5 on the season. The Panthers girls put together an outstanding game against the Tigers winning by a score of 14-12 for the first win of the season.
Going into the bottom of the seventh inning the Panthers girls were down 10-12 but when it mattered most the Panthers girls delivered. Faith Recker delivered a single with one out, Elah Malloy got on base with an error and Bridgette Ewing delivered a sacrifice bunt to put runners in scoring position.
The Tigers then intentionally walked Jaidyn Sellers who had already delivered a home run in the fifth inning and with the bases loaded and down 1-2 in the count Jazmyn Sellers sent a rocket over the left field fence to give the Panthers the 14-12 win with a walk off grand slam. Grace Webner also delivered a home run in the second inning. The Panthers girls moved to 1-5 on the season.
The Panthers baseball team was looking to get their record above .500 on the season when they took on the Tigers Tuesday night but ultimately fell short in a game that saw both teams able to score runs. The Panthers boys fell to the Tigers 5-4 Tuesday night and fell to 2-3 on the year so far.
The Panthers softball and baseball teams will take on the Van Meter Bulldogs on Thursday for another conference matchup which will also be a double header for both teams as they will get to see their conference opponent twice that night. The Panthers softball and baseball teams will also get to play this game at home as well.
