The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department has several summer activities for youth to participate in.
A Summer Sports Camp is for boys and girls going into 1st-3rd grade. The program will be held at the Greene County Community Center from June 7th-9th from 9am-noon. Kids can play a variety of different sports including basketball, soccer, kickball, dodgeball, football and bowling. Cost to attend is $15 for community center members and $20 for non-members.
A Disc Golf Beginners Course will be for boys and girls in 5th-8th grade. Jefferson resident Dan Rohner will lead participants on the growing sport with the 18-hole disc golf course at Daubendiek Park. The program will be on Wednesdays from June 8th-29th from 5:30-7:30pm, with a cost of $25 and limited space available.
Finally, there will be a strength and conditioning class held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 14th-30th for boys and girls in 6th-8th grade at the community center. Kelly Monthei will lead participants in a variety of workouts designed to improve a teens athletic performance through strength, power, speed and agility, quickness and cardio respiratory. Cost is $20 for rec center members and $25 for non-members.
