Dallas Center – Grimes girls soccer opens up their run to the state title today in 2A soccer, when they take on the North Polk Comets at Cownie Sports Complex in Des Moines. The Mustangs are the top overall seed and lone remaining undefeated team at 19-0, while a stingy eight seed in North Polk enters at 13-4.
The Mustangs have been tremendous this year, as they have been able to be dominate on both the offensive and defensive ends. The Mustangs have played a schedule that was tough in a good Little Hawkeye Conference, as well as a challenging non-conference, so this team is battle tested going into this tournament.
DCG will look to slow down a good North Polk attack, with their team able to put up 69 goals in the 17 games. They were able to finish tied for 2nd in the Raccoon River Conference.
You can listen to the match this afternoon on the new 943, 997, and AM 1310 KDLS. First kick is at 12:30, with pregame coverage to begin around 12:15, which includes an interview with coach Dan James.
