A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with another vehicle Monday morning in Adair County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at11:30am, 56-year-old Jay Thysen of Elk Horn was traveling south on Highway 25 on a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Thysen had slowed to a stop and was signaling left to turn onto 120th Street, while yielding to a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu that was heading north on Highway 25 and driven by 41-year-old Nicole Lindberg of Greenfield. 

Twenty-year-old Liam Reinier of West Des Moines was also heading south on the highway in a 2012 Nissan Versa, when he became distracted by a large gathering on the east roadside and collided with the motorcycle, pushing it into the Chevrolet Malibu. Thysen was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger, 60-year-old Karen Thysen of Elk Horn was injured and taken by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
