Organizers of the 2nd Annual Bike Ride Around Greene County (BRAG) are calling this weekend’s event a success.

Co-organizer Emily Dyer with Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community gave her reaction to how this past Saturday’s event went.

“Yeah definitely much better weather. It is sunny, there’s a slight breeze, no rain in the forecast, it’s a great day. And then we also had 102 people sign up to ride and they all came except maybe three. And last year we had about 150 but only maybe 100 showed up. So I think we had a better attendance (this year).”

Dyer pointed out there were four stops along the 36 mile route, including Lakeside Golf Course, 209 Main in Paton, 30 Yard Line in Grand Junction and Doc’s Stadium in Jefferson. She was happy with the partnerships with area businesses they continue to cultivate.

“And it’s just a great way to showcase our local businesses and see what they have to offer and hopefully bring people back after the ride and come back to Greene County.”

Dyer said there were four prizes given away to those that finished the route. The winners included Tracy Deal, who won a new bicycle from Bike World; Dan Rohner won a bike rack, Marcia Tasler got a mobile bike pump and Jacob Clark won the History Boy Theatre gift basket.
