A member of the Stuart community was a recipient of a prestigious award that recognizes the hard work of Iowa livestock farmers.
The Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award sponsored by Coalition To Support Iowa Farmers was given to Andrew Kaldenberg from Rose Acres during a ceremony on Wednesday.
Kaldenberg describes the honor of being selected for this award.
“It’s humbling, just doing my job basically and doing what’s right.”
Coalition Executive Director Brian Waddingham says Kaldenberg was nominated by the public and then their committee unanimously voted for him to receive this award. Waddingham tells why Kaldenberg deserves this award.
“Really on how many birds he takes care of, how many eggs are produced and he does so in a very sustainable manner, really conscious of the environmental footprint he leaves behind and always seems to use the best conservation practices.”
Kaldenberg and Rose Acres were the 161st farm family to receive this award. This event was at the Saints Center with food and guest speakers.
