
A local high school team has punched their ticket to the soccer state tournament on Wednesday night.
West Central Valley will be the seven seed in the Iowa High School State Tournament after defeating Treynor in overtime with a game winning goal from Matt Gerling. West Central Valley finished the regular season with a 16-1 record and defeated every opponent in their substrate bracket including Panorama, St. Albert and Treynor. The next opponent for West Central Valley will be Beckman Catholic in the quarterfinal of the state tournament held at James W. Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines. Game time is set at noon on June 1st.
