It’s round two of the Class 1A high school boys’ soccer Substate for Greene County tonight at 6:30 p.m. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams go to Des Moines Christian School at DMC on Douglas Ave. in Urbandale for semifinal action.  Both teams have 10-4 records and tonight’s winner advances to the Substate 7 final on May 25 vs. either Nevada (13-6) or Clarke (Osceola) (10-3).

Greene County and the Lions were scheduled to meet during the regular season, but injuries and scheduling conflicts derailed that contest, so tonight will mark the only contest this season between the two.

Jose Velazco and Gesser Aguilar are the top goal scorers for the Rams. Gabe Ebersole in goal and the defense line have been stingy. Seniors Nate Black and Brenner Gallagher bring experience and leadership to the team, and Coach Behne told Raccoon Valley Radio his team is about as close to full strength as its been since the start of the season.
